The striker Spurs should be targeting

This summer is set be one of the biggest in the history of Tottenham Hotspur. Having missed out on Champions League football, despite a fourth place finish, a second successive season in the Europa league is the best the North London side can hope next year. By not performing in Europe’s elite competition, it is believed that the likes of Luka Modric and Gareth Bale will be subject to intense speculation regarding their respective futures.

Furthermore, the players that Spurs would have been targeting had Chelsea not emerged from Germany victorious will suddenly have had a change of heart about moving to White Hart Lane. Transfer targets have changed, due to financial implications on top of the lack of pulling power, and with it, a squad that some fans were hoping to be as talented prior to the Blues emphatic penalty shoot out win over Bayern Munich will quickly have changed.

However, the allure of North London is still strong and with it, players will still arrive. A new striker is a must this summer and irregardless of Emmanuel Adebayor potentially joining on a permanent move, it remains a necessity. And whilst Fernando Llorente or Radamel Falcao may be unreachable, Leandro Damiao is still well within their grasp.

Talented with the ball at his feet, a sharp eye for goal and a physical nightmare for any defence, the Brazil international is again on the radar for Spurs. Sharing a commercial relationship with his club Internacional will help in negotiations, while the success of former team-mate Sandro will surely bolster the North Londoners chances of bringing Leandro to White Hart Lane.
