Benteke-taka was a phrase I saw coined on Twitter on Tuesday night. It was an appropriate level of praise for the Aston Villa front-man, who arrived at the Midlands club on transfer deadline day from K.R.C. Genk for a fee thought to be around £7m.
Some had scoffed at such a high figure being paid for a player who was unproven in the Premiership, yet had still mustered 19 goals in 37 games for his former club during his solitary season with them. Manager Paul Lambert was confident of securing a player whose potential, it has to be said, far outweighs his current ability.
The recently appointed Villa boss is certainly seeing his faith in Benteke repaid. The 21-year-old Belgium international has netted four goals in eight Premier League games for the Villains, most recently netting a late winner in the 3-2 win over Swindon Town in the Capital One Cup.
Lambert insists the front-man will only get better and you feel compelled to agree with the former Norwich City manager. At 21, Benteke still has plenty of time to enhance his footballing capability, with his inexperience at times showing through.
Nevertheless, while some were left scratching their heads having spent such a high amount for a player who had only, prior to signing for Villa, performed in his homeland, it was eyed as a huge gamble by Villa.
Yet, having regularly kept teammate Darren Bent sidelined, it goes to show the capability and threat that he offers to Villa.
