Here’s another one for you.
In the wake of Zlatan Ibramhimovic’s incredible overhead kick for Sweden in the friendly against England there has been much debate over what is the best goal ever scored.
Was it the Roberto Carlos free kick? Or Van Basten’s wonder volley for Holland? Like everything in football it is open to interpretation and we as fans will never be able to choose our favourite ever goal.
So to add more confusion to the issue here’s AC Milan centre back Philippe Mexes scoring an absolute pearler against Anderlecht last week.
Mexes manages to chest the ball up with his back to goal before executing an exquisite overhead kick which loops over the goalkeeper and goes in off the back stick.
It might have been a bit closer to the goal than Zlatan’s (Mexes was just outside the area when he hit it) but it’s still a fantastic goal.
Take a look for yourselves, not bad for a defender I suppose.
