The January transfer window is fast approaching and the rumours are beginning to mount. The same old usual names are in the mix but there are some new names being thrown into the mix.
After a terrific year, Radamel Falcao is bound to be one of the main targets this January. Since his move from Porto in 2011, Falcao has scored 35 goals in 46 games for Atletico Madrid and that sort of form does not go unnoticed. Rumoured to be in interested in the Colombian’s signature are Chelsea who are not only lacking goals, but are lacking strikers. Fernando Torres and Daniel Sturridge are the only two recognised strikers in their squad and have only 5 league goals between them this season. Falcao would be a great addition to any squad and as we all know Chelsea have the balance to fund this kind of transfer. However Chelsea will not be the only team chasing this man this January.
Marouane Fellaini is a player who in the past year has seemed to get better and better. For Everton to keep hold of the Belgian this January, they will have to do something very special. Fellaini is attracting interest from many clubs and one club that we all know has been a fan of him for a long time is Manchester United. United have had some awesome central midfielders in their time, however this season they seem to be short in that department. Wesley Sneijder has been linked with a move to United in the past few windows, but Fellaini for me would be a much better signing. He has played 13 league games this season scoring 8 goals and 3 assists.
Another player who I believe will be on their way to the Premiership this January is Portugal and Porto midfielder Joao Moutinho. Before this summers Euro’s I had never really been impressed with Moutinho, but after watching him pull the strings for Portugal this boy would be a great addition to any squad. Rumoured Front runners are Tottenham Hotspur, who in my opinion have too many midfielders, and with ex Porto boss AVB in charge I am fairly confident this transfer will come to fruition. This transfer was being mentioned almost all summer and I’d be very surprised if this does not happen.
Finally, what kind of January transfer window would it be if Harry Redknapp was not around? Luckily Mark Hughes has been dropped in favour of our cockney wheeler dealing favourite at Queens Park Rangers. As we are all aware QPR have had a dreadful first half of the season and are still looking for their first win and I am sure with millionaire owner Tony Fernandes at Loftus Road, it should be a good looking transfer kitty for ‘Arry come January. Names have already been mentioned with Michael Dawson and Darren Bent being mentioned the most. With a huge squad already I am expecting even more new faces. As Harry as said this is his hardest task to date, I for one have a feeling he might pull this off and it will be his greatest escape yet.
January is a fantastic Transfer window which always serves up some shocks and some crazy last minute deals. I don’t expect this one to be any different.
