Wenger Should Want Old Villa (Video)

The papers say Arsenal have made their worst start ever to a season but they occupy a place coveted in the top 4, 2 points off 3rd place side Chelsea, and are still in the Champions League. Arsene Wenger better spend some of the reported £50 million transfer kitty that is available to him then.

Barcelona forward David Villa has been labelled as a possible target but his age, 31, transfer fee, £12 million, and wages, £100,000 a week, has made the Arsenal boss seek a younger, less expensive option.

Atletico Madrid’s Adrian (Lopez Alvarez) is only 24 and has picked up two European titles, the 2011/12 Europa League and 2012 Super Cup. Exactly what Wenger wants then and available for a around £15 million, get him to the Emirates.

Adrian plays predominantly on the wing, in support of Atletico’s goals machine Falcao, which would see the Spaniard fit perfectly in to Arsenal’s formation with two men on either side of a more central striker.

Adrian has been dubbed ‘The New David Villa’ but he is yet to live up to the tag. The 24 year old has played 265 club games and scored 49 goals, 1 in, near enough, 5 isn’t bad but Villa has 274 in 554.

Wenger should make an exception and spend £12 million on the real thing.
