The news that Tiago Manuel Dias Correia has been loaned to Rio Ave may not mean much to most people. And, unfortunately for Manchester United, even referring to him by his better known nickname of Bebe would draw little more attention.
The Portuguese forward remains on just seven appearances for the Red Devils, most of which came in domestic cup competitions. He is yet to start or score in the league having played in only two Premier League games, with the second of his two goals for the club coming on his Champions League debut in November 2010.
Bebe left Old Trafford for the first time last year when he joined Besiktas on a season-long loan. However, his time at the Turkish club was hampered by a cruciate ligament injury suffered whilst on international duty with the Portugal Under-21 side. After being ruled out for six months, he made only four appearances in the Super Lig before his time in Turkey ended with him facing exclusion from the first team for breaking club curfew.
Famous (or infamous) for being the first player Sir Alex Ferguson has signed without watching him play, the 22-year-old has it all to do to prove his £7.4 million price tag to the legendary manager.
Approaching two years since he last played competitively for United, will this latest loan move help Bebe to rediscover the form that attracted the interest of both Real Madrid and Benfica?
