Suarez To Make Way For Sturridge (Video)

It seems Luis Suarez isn’t as greedy as I thought he was.

The Uruguayan has been in blistering form this season, scoring 15 goals in 20 Premier League games, but he is willing to switch roles, allowing new signing Daniel Sturridge to play down the middle.

While at Chelsea, Sturridge made it very clear he felt his attributes suited him best to playing a central role but more often than not he found himself deployed on the flank, or the bench.

The ₤12 million arrival of Sturridge will certainly ease the goal-scoring burden Liverpool‘s top scorer has been carrying this season, although boss Brendan Rodgers may be forced in to a rethink of his favoured 4-3-3 formation to accommodate the pair.

Despite having to find a way to get the best out of Suarez and Sturridge the Liverpool boss is happy to have any headaches over selection. “The principles of your game are based on your players. I think for Daniel his best position will be straight through the middle with his pace.

“Luis will play for the common good of the team. I spoke with Luis at length on this subject a number of times. This has been the plan for a few months.

“When he played at Ajax he played in behind the central striker as a No 10, in between the lines. He also played as a reverse winger from the left side.

“Wherever he plays he will make the same movements and he will find the space because he is a world-class player. It is not a problem at all.

“It is never a problem having top players so don’t talk about problems with players. We need good players.”
