Harry Redknapp has admitted there is some truth behind the rumours of Mr. consistent Ryan Nelsen leaving the club.
The 35-year-old appears to be ready to take up a coaching role at his former club DC United in the States, and the move also sheds some light on the signing of Tal Ben Haim who, let’s be honest, has seen better days.
Redknapp snapped Nelson up whilst he was in charge of Spurs last year and he proved to be a extremely influential player in the dressing room both on and off the pitch, but the New Zealand international has plans to be a manager and this job opportunity would be too tempting to turn down. He is the current captain of his country and he also vice-captains the QPR side – his importance does not go unnoticed by his gaffer.
When asked about the move, Redknapp said: “Nelson is very important to us, a fantastic leader and a top player, but he has been offered a job in America and I think there is every chance he might want to go.
“He is one of the best pros I have ever met in my life, a fantastic player, a great trainer, a leader. He is a massive part of your team and to lose him would be a massive blow for us.”
Perhaps he doesn’t fancy the idea of a dogged relation scrap and prefers the thought of living life in the sun across the pond rather than the doom and gloom that surrounds the Premier League’s bottom club.
