Ask any football fan who the most erratic footballer in the game at present is and many will instantaneously will snap back with Mario Balotelli. The Manchester City striker has again made the headlines for all the wrong reasons over the past week, finding himself involved in yet another scuffle with manager Roberto Mancini.
It’s the latest in a string of incidents involving the Italian, who had appeared to have turned a corner during the European Championship over the summer. Nevertheless, his future at the Etihad Stadium is looking increasingly bleak, regardless of what Mancini tells the media.
While Balotelli has in the past insisted that a meeting with former Brazil striker Ronaldo set him on the straight and narrow, it appears that time has come and gone. Instead, City should look to involve the fiery youngster in any transfer for a replacement while the transfer window is open.
That striker would indeed be Napoli hitman Edinson Cavani. The Uruguay international has continuously impressed for club and country, netting a hat trick during the Serie A sides’ 4-1 win over AS Roma on Sunday evening.
Balotelli has previously hinted he would consider a move to the Stadio San Paolo, while footballing super agent Mino Raiola, representative of the City striker, has insinuated that Cavani is more than likely set to leave Napoli during the summer.
Club’s across the continent have regularly been linked with a big money move for the former Palermo ace and it’s no wonder why. However, the Citizens could comfortably kill two birds with one stone by moving for the Partenopei front-man and including Balotelli in any potential deal.
