Harry prefers the tried and tested – Palacios to QPR

Harry Redknapp appears to be willing to hand a lifeline to another player he worked with in a previous job, Wilson Palacios.

The Honduras international worked under Redknapp whilst the pair where at Spurs a few years back and he was an essential part to their midfield success, but since his £6m move to Stoke in 2011 things have rapidly gone downhill for the 28-year-old, playing only 4 games for the club this term.

Redknapp often prefers the tried and tested players that he is worked with when he takes over at a new club, and he has lived by that sentiment since his arrival at Loftus Road. He snapped up free agent Tal Ben Haim who he mentored while at Portsmouth, he has been linked with William Gallas who of course he worked with at Spurs, and the likes of Robbie Keane, Michael Dawson, Darren Bent and Peter Crouch have all be banded about as a potential signing for the Rs, so what makes this Palacios move more credible than those?

Well, Wilson’s dad has been willing to talk to the press, and he has confirmed the rumours. Ah, It’s official then!

He said: “Wilson is going to join QPR. Their manager is interested in signing him once more, as he knows him well.”

It is well documented that Redknapp wants to sure up the back-end of his team and add a bit of protection to his defence, and Palacios would be an ideal signing in that sense. He has experience of over 100 Premier League games in England for the likes of Birmingham, Wigan, Spurs and now Stoke, and would provide some added steel into the QPR midfield, which will be needed if they want to pull away from the foot of the table.

His robust style and no-fear attitude makes him a very attractive signing to any who are interest, and if Stoke City don’t want him, then there are plenty of other who will gladly take him off their books.
