Blatter Takes His Point
FIFA president Sepp Blatter has threatened clubs with points deductions if their fans are guilty of racist abuse in the future, it seems football’s supremos have finally realised that petty fines and empty grounds are not enough to perturb fans from discrimination.
Bulgaria and Hungary are the most recent of nations to be ordered to play games behind closed doors but Blatter admits that might not be enough, “I think we can never do enough to eradicate all the racism in football.
“We have already tried and you have given, in Great Britain, the best example of how to eradicate violence in football with the modern stadia, with the controls and education that this is the one thing.
“I think a more radical solution would be deduction of points. Deduction of points would have a better impact on that than any other sanction.”
Blatter criticised AC Milan’s Kevin Prince-Boateng for walking off the field when suffering abuse from fans in a friendly game but points deductions can only lead to the idiotic fans who discriminate players holding grudges, all those who heard the chants to Anton Ferdinand from Chelsea fans know what I mean.
