January sales: Swindon Town for sale

Ever dreamt of owning your own club? Ever thought about making the decisions and take a Football League outfit to the summit of the Champions League whilst you smoke a fat cigar in the director’s box? Well now is your chance, sort of.

Swindon Town owner Andrew Black has revealed that the club are for sale in order to gain funds to cover the £18m debts that they currently have. So, what will you getting if you scrape your monthly pocket money together and make the board an offer?

You will receive a club steeped in history, 133 years of it to be precise, a loyal fan-base, a team going well in League One and a fiery Italian manager in Paolo Di Canio, unless you are brave enough to give him the boot that is.

It would be a shame to see all the gaffer’s hard work go to waste if they are forced into administration, but if you and your mates want to stump together and take the reins you had better be quick, as potential investors are already starting to circle.

“Andrew has made it clear he’s looking for new investors,” chairman Sir William Patey told BBC Wiltshire.

“That’s why there’s been a great deal of activity in the last few weeks. We’ve had some positive talks and we’re encouraged by the discussions.”
