What next for Forest?

Championship teams appear to be developing a knack for showcasing how to not run a football club. First we had the Venky’s, who continuously astound many with their inability to control a team, in this case Blackburn Rovers.

Now it appears Nottingham Forest have taken over the mantle from the 1995 Premier League champions following the sacking of Alex McLeish. The former Birmingham City and Aston Villa manager has shown the exit door, 40 days after taking over from Sean O’Driscoll, who was wrongfully sacked in the first place it has to be said.

With Forest currently 11th in the Championship, albeit six points off the play-off places, speculation is rife as to who will succeed the Scot at the City Ground. Nigel Adkins has been mooted, while Simon Grayson and footballing heart throb Alan Curbishley are also available, should the Al-Hasawi family look for experience.

If not, Paolo Di Canio and Diego Maradona have been linked with the managerial hotseat in the past and will undoubtedly do so again in the not too distant future. Either way, whoever is brought in needs some form of guarantee regarding transfer dealings over the summer and stability within the club.

If things remain as they are, the future is bleak for Forest, regardless of what the owners may or may not say.
