Reports on Wednesday afternoon have pointed towards Carlo Ancelotti agreeing personal terms with Real Madrid to move to the Spanish capital at the end of the season. While nothing has been confirmed, it would make for yet another managerial merry-go-around in the summer.
It would be an understatement to claim everything isn’t all sangria and siesta’s at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu at present. Jose Mourinho continues to alienate himself from the players, with the likes of Iker Casillas and Sergio Ramos supposedly issuing an ultimatum to president Florentino Perez with the simple instruction – either Mourinho goes or we do.
With the 50-year-old’s position at the club becoming seemingly untenable, it’s becoming more and more possible that a departure from Los Blancos at the end of the season the likely scenario. If that’s the case, then the club have wasted no time in bringing in his replacement.
If it is the case that Ancelotti has agreed to take over, then where does it leave Mourinho? Some believe he’s destined to return to Chelsea over the same with Rafa Benitez looking increasingly likely to remain at Stamford Bridge.
However, a straight swap could occur, with Jose heading to Paris St. Germain. The possibility of managing the mega spending Ligue 1 side could well appeal to the Portuguese tactician, while the money available to Parisian outfit means they could afford his salary and compensation with Madrid, unless of course he’s sacked.
Furthermore, with Cristiano Ronaldo becoming increasingly unsettled in Madrid, there is a possibility he could follow his compatriot to France. Again, money would play a major part in any potential deal, something that is of little concern to PSG, not to mention the opportunity of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Mourinho linking up once again, with the former insisting the latter is the best coach he’s ever worked under in his book.
In turn, this could see Real move for Tottenham Hotspur‘s Gareth Bale, with Angel Di Maria, who has reportedly been touted about by the Madrid side, potentially heading to White Hart Lane. Either way, the reports will likely increase speculation regarding the future of Ancelotti and Mourinho between now and the end of the season.
