3 potential destinations for Manuel Pellegrini
The Malaga boss has been subject of intense speculation regarding his job situation. His current employers are struggling financially and there is the feeling should a Premier League club come knocking they will let their star manager depart.
Having failed to achieve his desired result at Real Madrid he may just fancy another crack of the whip at the big time abroad. If he was to come over to England here are three possible options:
Chelsea
Roman Abramovich has constantly strived to try out the best managers in Europe and offers them a pressure cooker environment and expects results.
This will be no surprise to Pellegrini having achieved last 16 in the Champions League with Malaga and with the Spanish outfit still well in contention to qualify for next year’s jousting with Europe’s big boys once again too. He may be a perfect stop gap for the Russian Owner in his search for perfection.
Man City
There had already been talk that this move had been verbally agreed which infuriated Roberto Mancini and was widely dismissed by everyone involved with Manchester City.
Despite this expectations are high in the blue half of Manchester for Champions League success that their current Italian boss has failed to deliver with two chances to achieve it already. Now that they lie 12 points adrift in the title race Sheikh Mansour may just trigger the eject button and bring in Pellegrini.
Liverpool
Brendan Rodgers appears to be living on borrowed time at Anfield. His attempts to play beautiful football and utilise the youth in Liverpool has left those on Merseyside underwhelmed.
There is the strong feeling that if Liverpool are to keep their stars like Luis Suarez and gain the glory they crave that they need an experienced head like Manuel Pellegrini. Whether they could persuade him to join is another matter.
