What does every manager look for in a right winger? Perhaps they look at the speed. Perhaps the strength and the willingness to try and beat a player. Maybe they concentrate on the final ball and the accuracy of the delivery. Whatever it is, managers focus on different attributes and in this list we look at a mixture of the above.
No team has been successful without an accomplished right-winger. If you look through the history of Manchester United, Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester City and Chelsea, you will see a number of huge talents in that berth.
To start our blood pumping we have a man who never played in the Premier League, much to my grievance. Luis Figo, a man so admirable that the world stood and applauded when he took to the pitch. With almost 800 first team appearances for Sporting Lisbon, Barcelona, Real Madrid and Inter, and 127 caps for Portugal, Figo was a monumental figure in European football from 1990 – 2009 before he hung up his boots.
