It may be that all you see is this little man’s name, record broken here and record broken there.
But if he continues to break records and honestly just amaze the football world, then why wouldn’t one write about him?
It’s of course, Lionel Messi.
If you aren’t familiar with his work, you should known that he’s going to be quite the player.
Last night in a league match again Deportivo La Coruna, the Argentine scored in a surprisingly uncomfortable 2-0 win at the Nou Camp.
Nonetheless, this was Lionel Messi’s seventeenth consecutive league game where he has scored, thus breaking another world record.
The record of scoring in sixteen consecutive games was held by a player called Teodor Pewterek whilst playing for Polish side Ruch Chorzow, this was back in the 1930’s.
This record comes after Messi broke former Germany striker Gerd Muller’s record when he surpassed the German’s 85 goals in one calendar year, ending on 91 for club and country.
With Barcelona this week attempting to overcome a 2-0 deficit against Italian side AC Milan in the Champions league, getting Messi into his scoring mood can do no harm.
However, as they have in recent games, Barcelona looked jaded and sloppy against a poor Deportivo side and they will certainly have to up their game if they are going to progress in the Champions league.
Either way, you heard it here first. The name Lionel Messi is one for the future.
