Speculation is growing that Reading are to turn to Bradford City boss Phil Parkinson as they battle to beat the Premier League drop.
It has been well documented the success that Parkinson has enjoyed this season, guiding his shoestring assembles Bradford to Wembley for the Capital One Cup Final, knocking out three Premier League teams in the process, including Arsenal. But is the bantams gaffer about to be rewarded for this feat with a crack at the Premier League?
Parkinson has proved this season that he is able to get seemingly inadequate teams up for the big occasions against ‘better’ teams, and there is set to be no bigger occasions than the 9 cup finals that Reading have between now and the end of the season.
It is worth noting that Parkinson is a former Reading player. In fact, Parkinson is a double player of the year at the Madejski Stadium and was a firm fans favourite throughout his 361 appearances spanning over a decade with the Berkshire club, with fans still singing his name to this day.
The lure of Premier League management at a club where he is so loved may just tug on the heart strings of Parkinson and may just convince him to put his impending contract negotiations at Valley Parade on hold.
