I never minded playing as goalkeeper when I was actually fit enough to play football.
We all remember being in the playground and hoping to the high heavens that we were not picked to play in goal because it meant that you wouldn’t be a scoring a goal therefore robbing you of much glory. Or if you were picked to be a keeper then would anybody mind if it was ‘Rush Goalie’.
The truth is being a goalkeeper can sometimes be a lonely job especially if your team is very good and the one you’re playing against not so good. But the sign of how good a keeper is, they say, how they react having not been called into action for a long time.
Of course the goalkeepers can get a bit of the glory but it isn’t the same as the adulation you receive when you score a goal so here is a video for all the goalkeepers who chose to ignore the rules and run up the other end of the pitch to grab that moment of glory by getting themselves a goal.
