It emerged this week that Schalke 04 goalkeeper Timo Hildebrand was the victim of online bullying or ‘Cyberbullying’ if you will.
The Cyberbully was revealed to be German teen, Don Jannis.
Jannis abused Hildebrand via Facebook and wrote on his page: “You Dumb bastard. Please shoot/kill yourself. You can’t do anything.”
Schalke’s German goalkeeper publicly announced he was deeply upset by what Jannis had said, which in turn prompted the teenager to issue an apology.
The apology was shown on the German website Bild.de and is translated as:
“Dear Timo,
With this letter I would like to apologize for my word choice. I didn’t think that my Facebook comment would create such a stir. What I wrote was rash and I didn’t mean it. I am myself a huge Schalke fan and I get happy every time they win. I was disappointed because of the last few games. But that doesn’t justify my statement.
I wish you much success in the next few games.
Lots of love,
Jannis”
The goalkeeper accepted the youngsters ‘apology’, which to me seemed to read a little in jest.
Nonetheless, the matter is now resolved and Tim even offered to meet Jannis face-to-face, but Jannis declined the offer as he didn’t want to reveal his true identity.
I’ve one more thing to say…. Grow up Timo, you’re 33-years-old.
