Adam Webster is an 18-year-old versatile defender who is currently earning his trade at League One side Portsmouth.
Since the 2012/13 season, with Portsmouth’s financial situation in disarray, Webster found himself fast tracked into the first team this season.
Despite never starting a game at this level, Webster took like a duck to water and cemented his place in the Portsmouth team and left-back.
Portsmouth are in a relegation battle and are facing League Two straight in the face – regardless of their situation, Webster plays every game like it’s his last.
For an 18-year-old, his reading of the game is unrivalled in Portsmouth’s ranks.
His international career has started to take shape also, earning his first call-ups to the England under-19 side after appearing once previously for the under-18’s.
At 6ft 3”, Webster towers above most boys of his age. So far, Manchester City, Liverpool and Stoke have all been reported as ‘interested’.
As unreliable as the transfer market is nowadays, I wouldn’t be surprised.
Should Webster not receive an offer from the three teams, I’m sure another buyer will be just round the corner.
Remember the name, because he’s certainly one for the future.
