Following the quotes of Jose Mourinho over the weekend, speculation has been rife that he is set to return to Chelsea. The 50-year-old has regularly been linked with a move back to Stamford Bridge following his exit in 2007 and with the poor form of Rafa Benitez, the supporters would all but welcome him back with open arms.
The Portuguese tactician dropped the biggest hint yet that he’s set to return to the Premier League at the end of the season after suggesting that he will return to a former club when asked of his next job. While FC Porto and Inter Milan would welcome him back with open arms, the fact is Chelsea are the most likely destination for Mourinho.
With his time in Madrid set to be coming to an end, with Jose continuously alienating himself from the Real Madrid players, the chances of him leaving the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu have increased significantly.
Furthermore, with Benitez already accepting that he’s leaving at the end of the season and reports in France suggesting Carlo Ancelotti has already agreed to take over the reins in the Spanish capital for the new campaign, it further increases speculation that Mourinho will be on his way back to Chelsea once the season draws to its inevitable conclusion.
