Dutch De Vrij on the radar of the Premier League

The papers are suggesting that Feyenoord defender, Stefan de Vrij is being tracked by several English clubs, the most linked being Everton, but with no formal talks being held as of yet, who will sign the big Dutchman first if he does leave?

I know with no formal talks being open can mean just speculative garbage in the spider web that is the gossip side of football transfers but I believe it is widely regarded that de Vrij will be sold by the Rotterdam club in the summer. As club captain at just the age of 21 and more than likely to become a first choice centre back for his country, his price tag may be high but I believe he is worth it. With limited access to Erevidese league, I haven’t seen him play consistently for Feyenoord but I did see him against Italy in their friendly played during February this year and at times he was imperious. With the game finishing 1-1 due to a Marco Verratti 93 minute equaliser, it was a smudge on his performance, this is all from memory granted but If it does serve me correct, he is a wonderfully cultured defender who would rather play a ball into the midfield or a lofted ball into the front man instead of a hoof or a lump, and what’s better than a modern centre half who can play football? Much like David Luiz in aspects but less marauding, I think.

With Everton being supposed front runners for his signature, although rubbished that talks have been held, and Manchester United and Liverpool keeping tabs on him, he would be a wonderful addition to any team in the Premier League if his consistent form replicates the few times I’ve seen him. This is a scout’s job, wouldn’t rely entirely on me but let’s see how he does cope if he does join the Premier League, hopefully he does!
