Liverpool, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur to lock horns for Premier League goalkeeper

Liverpool, Arsenal and Spurs are set to battle it out for recently relegated Julio Cesar at the end of the season according to The Express.

The Brazilian shot-stopper has been in stupendous form this season but the rest of his flatulent teammates have not done enough to stop the club sinking into the Championship. The 33-year-old only signed for the Rs in the summer and was excited about challenging for the league title – his words, not ours – but soon found out that Mark Hughes spouts nonsense more often than not.

With Liverpool keeper Pepe Reina’s career slumping to a steady decline the Reds are in search for a new number one. Now, Cesar may be a few years too old for Brendan Rodgers, but goalkeepers age better than any other position and Cesar certainly has more left in his tank.

Arsenal have had a tricky time between the sticks in recent years and although Wojciech Szczesny making the spot his own this season, Arsene Wenger has questioned his mentality and has left him out of key fixtures because of it. Cesar would give the Poland international a real run for his money and with guidance from the wily old Brazilian who knows how much he could develop.

There is a similar situation down the road at Spurs with Hugo Lloris now their mainstay in goal. With Brad Friedel’s limbs eroding due to old age Andre Villas-Boas has publicly declared his search for another top keeper well and truly ON.

Cesar’s agent has given all three sides hope by suggesting he will be staying in Europe next season. He said: “Julio wants a team that proves it has a focus on him, but anyone interested in him will have to talk first with QPR, because the contract with the London club expires in 2016.

“In two weeks I should come to Europe to talk with Julio – but back to Brazil? I don’t think so. If QPR were to decide to sell Julio Cesar, I still see a European future for him.”
