It has been revealed that Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich wants John Terry to be stripped of the captaincy and for the armband to go to David Luiz, sparking debates across west London.
John Terry has a year left on his contract but has fallen out of favour at the club under the management of Rafa Benitez and Abramovich’s determination to clear out the older players of the squad is really starting to take place.
Along with Terry, England left-back Ashley Cole is likely to leave the club next year when his contract expires and Frank Lampard looks set to be released at the end of this season after giving 12 years and over 200 goals for the club.
With Benitez’s reign finally ending when the current Premier League season comes to a close, the Stamford Bridge outfit could use this summer to start a fresh regime and set about their title winning ways again.
However, Jose Mourinho has hinted at a return to the Blues after falling out with the entire Spanish population and could have something to say about the exits of three of the men that drove his side to such glory in his stint in England a few years back.
Still, even if Terry does lose his title as captain, at least he will still be a leader and a legend. *snigger*
