Arsenal midfielder Santi Cazorla believes that the Gunners are in with a shout of claiming the Premier League title next season.
The little magician has had a superb first season at the Emirates, despite the squad showing shaky form throughout the majority of their campaign, and believes that if they show the sort of form they have done of late then they will have a realistic chance of winning the league.
He told the official website: “The aim is to win trophies. We want to be fighting for the Premier League and all other tournaments we enter. We’re a great team and I’m sure we will. Unfortunately Arsenal have gone eight years without a trophy, which is a long time for such a huge club that’s always up there fighting with the other big clubs.
“This year we haven’t been able to, for various reasons. We got far in both the FA Cup and the League Cup but it wasn’t to be. I hope next year will be another story.”
Now, you may be chuckling to yourself at the thought of anyone related to Arsenal believing they can ever win the trophy again, but their recent displays have seen them topping the form table for some time.
Still, this is Arsenal. Something is bound to go wrong. Whether it be Arsene Wenger being forced out of the doors at The Emirates or another injury to star man Jack Wilshere, there is surely going to be something preventing the gooners from overtaking the Manchester clubs come next season, isn’t there?
