Arsenal ready to offer Barcelona midfielder a way out

Arsenal are planning a sensational swoop to recapture former midfielder Cesc Fabregas as Barcelona plan a summer of transition, report the Daily Star.

Fabregas has had an impressive season in La Liga this time round, scoring 10 goals in his 28 league appearances, but his performances in Barca’s European games have been nothing short of dismal. And as the Camp Nou side look to rebuild a squad capable of dominating world football they are said to be willing to let some of their players go.

Amongst those expected to leave, alongside Fabregas, are Alex Song, David Villa and young full-back Martin Montoya, all of whom are linked with Premier Legaue moves.

Fabregas grew up in Barcelona’s notorious La Masia before making a switch to north London in 2003 to try and break into the first team set up. After eight years and over 300 games for the Gunners he returned to the Blaugrana after months of speculation.

Although fans weren’t happy about losing one of their star players, they accepted his heart was in Barcelona and he left as a hero to many supporter. Arsenal are said to have first refusal should the midfield man be leaving Barcelona, and Arsene Wenger is desperate to get him back into a red shirt. Another advantage for the Gunners is that Barcelona still owe around £5m from the £35m deal that took him to Spain in the first place.

Will senior Fabregras be reunited with monsieur Wenger?
