There has been much speculation about the future of Spurs superstar Gareth Bale recently due to his fine form, but with the likes of Real Madrid and Manchester United apparently ready to battle it out for the Welshman’s signature, here are three reasons why a move to Old Trafford would be beneficial to all parties.
1) Manchester United’s poor midfield
Despite Manchester United lifting the Premier League trophy this season there is one segment of their squad that Sir Alex will be sweating on, and that’s his midfield. In the middle Fergie has Paul Scholes – a man who has been playing for so long that his ginger hair is slowly turning a strawberry-grey, Ryan Giggs – whose famous song has been changed to ‘Ryan Giggs Ryan Giggs walking down the wing’, Anderson – a player so dismal that even he looks embarrassed when called onto the pitch, Tom Cleverley – who has been labelled as a promising youngster because of his country of birth, and Nani – well, we probably shouldn’t bother with Nani, likewise Ashley Young. Michael Carrick is of course the exception and has had a solid season.
2) Sir Alex nurtures the youngsters
The wily old Scot has a reputation of guiding youngsters to the very top of the game and could do the same with Gareth Bale. David Beckham, Paul Scholes, Ryan Giggs, the Neville brothers and, er, Nicky Butt to name a few. But the standout name is Cristiano Ronaldo, who arrived in Manchester as a fresh-faced teenager and left as one of the greatest players on the planet. With Bale drawing comparisons with the Portuguese star perhaps Fergie can have a similar affect.
3) Spurs get the cash
The winger is apparently commanding a fee of around £50m which could provide Spurs a number of top quality individuals to introduce to the squad. Manchester United have promised the world a big money signing in the summer transfer window and the 23-year-old would be perfect addition, in my opinion.
But what do I know?
