Interesting one from TalkSport now claiming that newly-crowned Italian Champions (31 does not equal 29!) have taken a step forward to landing Tottenham Hotspur target Gonzalo Higuain.
The Real Madrid striker could be set to join another La Liga striker, Fernando Llorente, over to the Old Lady after it emerged the Athletic Bilbao star had signed terms in Italy on a pre-contract.
The 25-year-old, who has netted 15 goals in all competitions this term, would certainly make many a mouth of Premier League fans water at the prospect of him linking up with the likes of Gareth Bale, Aaronn Lennon and Jan Vertonghen at White Hart Lane. Although they boast the likes of Jermaine Defoe and Emmanuel Adebayor up front the lilywhites certainly need another striker to bolster their ranks.
TalkSport report that Gareth Bale could be used as the sacrificial lamb in the deal which would see him packing his bags to Madrid while Higuain moves in the opposite direction. This suggestion must surely be taken with a pinch of salt as such swap deals are so rare in modern football.
From a fan point of view, as much as the Premier League would suffer for the loss of Gareth Bale, the prospect of watching him on a Saturday night after seeing Higuain tearing apart Premier League defences sounds like a very appetising weekend of football.
