Portsmouth’s rebuilding begins now

This week has been a busy one for the doors of Portsmouth’s Fratton Park. The new owners have instigated the rebuilding process almost immediately by welcoming a whole host of new faces.

With creditors still owed money, Portsmouth are still without a transfer budget for the foreseeable future, which means manager Guy Whittingham has only free agents and the loan market in which to divulge.

Defenders Sonny Bradley and Danny East were the first through the door after their release from Premiership-bound Hull City.

21-year-old Sonny Bradley spent last season on loan at Aldershot Town, making an impressive 41 appearances.

Danny East, also 21-years-old, had loan spells at league two champions Gillingham and Northampton Town last season, notching up 16 appearances.

Next to arrive was 23-year-old French unknown Romain Padovani. Padovani signed a two-year contract following his release from French outfit AS Monaco.

Padovani was recommended by current Portsmouth defender Yassin Moutaouakil who also put pen to paper when he signed a one-year contract.

Moutaouakil, who joined Portsmouth from Hayes and Yeading last season, was impressive at the heart of the Blues’ defence last season.

Tom Craddock (released by Oxford United) and Patrick Agyemang (Stevenage) have also signed permanent deals and join Pompey’s new look side.

Yes, it may not be the household names Portsmouth were drawing in five years ago, but with the new PST ownership (and finally being out of administration) it’s a bright new start for everyone associated with the club – As long as Nigel Quashie doesn’t return, i’ll be a happy fellow.
