David Moyes does not deserve to be Manchester United manager – here is why

Sunday it really hit me. This is actually goodbye, Sir Alex Ferguson is no longer Manchester United manager after their next game. It also hit me that the man taking over from SFA, doesn’t really deserve it.

I’m not a Manchester United fan, but I do care. Manchester United is one of the biggest clubs in the world, it’s one of the most successful clubs of all time, it is twenty-time English champions, it deserves more than David bloody Moyes.

Don’t get me wrong, Moyes has done a good job at Everton, but a ‘good job’ isn’t what Manchester United requires. Such a club requires European dominance, it requires title challenging, and I don’t see Moyes supplying these needs.

Yes, as I said, he did a ‘good job’ at Everton. Respectable finishes in nearly every season he’s been there. But no silverware.

John Nicholson of F365 summed Moyes’ CV up in one sentence:

“I did quite well without much money but didn’t win anything, in fact other managers with less resources won things and did better than me and yes I signed Andy van der Meyde but I am Scottish if that helps and I can look cross.”

This isn’t Manchester United, this CV is Everton at best. Moyes’ should’ve stayed put.

The inevitable has also begun, the endless rumours linking every half-decent Toffees player with a switch to the ‘theatre of dreams‘ is everywhere. Fellaini, Baines, Jagielka and Pienaar are the most mentioned candidates.

There’s also been talk of Barcelona’s Cesc Fabregas and Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo joining the ‘Big Moyes Experiment’.

As John Nicholson also pointed out, Steve McLaren did a ‘good job’ during his tenure at ‘Boro, but at least he took them to a European final (I still can’t believe that) and look what happened to him (I think he’s now homeless).

Anyway, looking angry and being Scottish doesn’t make you a good manager Moyes, just ask Steve Kean (who is available Glazers… and homeless).
