Tottenham on the cusp of sealing £15m Spain international

Tottenham fans around the country are beginning to celebrate as they may finally be adding some quality into their attack, with the Metro reporting a £15m move for Barcelona’s David Villa is almost done. Andre Villas-Boas has publicly declared his admiration for the forward, Football Manager style, and could actually see the 31-year-old arrive in north London this summer.

Many have overlooked David Villa as a crocked has-been because of his unfortunate leg injuries, but he has rattled 15 goals this season despite starting just 14 times, showing that he still has the potency in front of goal.

Something which Emmanuel Adebayor clearly doesn’t. The Togolese striker has been on and off in terms of form, but his nonchalant approach to the game has finally seen a bit of bite to his performances. If you are not a Spurs fan then Adebayor is pure entertainment. However if you are a regular at White Hart Lane then I would hazard a guess that he’s left you pulling your hair out.

Jermain Defoe’s 11 goals in 33 games have been enough to please the fans, especially as only 17 of those have been full 90 minutes, but AVB has been desperate to bolster his attack with some real quality.

Step up David Villa. But please have a shave beforehand.
