Will Arsenal’s Champions League qualification spark a spending spree? 3 targets with statistics

Arsenal secured fourth place yesterday and with it a spot in the Champions League for next season. They celebrated like they had won the league, which is perhaps a sign of how far back they have gone in recent years, but will their position in with Europe’s elite and Arsene Wenger’s job continuing to gather pressure, will we see the Gunners finally splash out? Here are three men we think they should be moving for.

Mario Gomez – Bayern Munich

Gomez is a natural goalscorer, but with Robert Lewandowski said to be on the way to the Allianz-Arena in the summer chances will be limited between those already at the club. This is where the Gooners can jump. Arsenal are desperate to strengthen their frontline despite the likes of Theo Walcott, Lukas Podolski and Olivier Giroud churning a decent return this season and Gomez could be the perfect man.

He has played 21 games in the Bundesliga and scored 11 goals, has a shot accuracy of 57% and a league winners’ medal.

Alex Song – Barcelona

Every single Gunner would be pleased to have this man back. Song has had a mixed bag in Barcelona since his switch last summer and the  club are supposedly looking to get rid of its fringe players, which includes the 25-year-old. His defensive qualities in the middle of the field is something that every club in Europe strives for and considering he could be available on the cheap it seems a perfect target for Wenger.

He has played 19 games in La Liga this season, scored one goal and created five chances, has a shooting accuracy of 100% and a pass accuracy of 92%. His duel success of 55% is something that not many can match in the Premier League and his presence would

Asmir Begovic – Stoke

We know Arsene is on the lookout for a solid number one as Wojciech Szczesny has lost the plot on occasions this term and the Stoke man has been sensational up at the Britannia. Begovic has pulled save after save and dominated his box every game and has won the Potters numerous points on his own.

Begovic has played 38 games and has kept clean sheet 12 games, conceded just 1,18 games on average per game, makes almost two saves per game, has a claim success of 100%, and would be available for around £8m.
