Tottenham interested in big money midfield talent

It might be a new transfer window but that will not stop the same old stories rearing there heads, for example the constant talk of Joao Moutihno possibly joining Tottenham. The season maybe barely days old yet the transfer window talk is now in full swing with the The Metro reporting that Moutinho sits top of Andre Villas Boas’ shopping list.

Moutinho is one of those guys who has been talked about consistently in regards to a move away from Portugal for years, yet for whatever reason nothing has materialised despite the constant rumours. That said the Portugal international did move from Sporting to Porto in 2010 which quietened down the gossip mongers for a least a year or two, however last season saw the transfer talk resurface. In fact Spurs were believed to have been within a few crossed t’s and dotted i’s away from signing the player in the final days of the window and it seems this time out they will not be leaving their shopping until the mad rush.

Having narrowly missed out on Champions League qualification despite their record Premier League points haul Spurs will be looking for that extra something to finally turn them from perennial nearly men into the real deal. Further if they can show real ambition and power in the market by snapping up Moutihno then they might just convince Gareth Bale that it might be worth sticking around for one more year, with the Welshmen’s future up in the air the club will know that they must match his ambition if they are to keep him next term and it is unlikely he will wait around if they fall short again next term.
