The appointment of David Moyes at Old Trafford could cost Manchester United the services of Inter defender Andrea Ranocchia this summer. United have been trading blows with Serie A giants Juventus for the 25-year-old’s signature but the fact that the hierarchy are unsettled at the Red Devils, for the first time in 27 years, may see him join Italy’s Old Lady in the coming weeks according to talkSPORT.
It must be hard having the champions of two countries battling it out to throw their millions at you, eh?
The Italy international is said to prefer to stay in his homeland, but should a deal not happen with Juve then he is more than happy to start a new adventure under the strawberry-blonde Scot in the Manchester United hot seat.
Inter have had a shocking season this time round, finishing ninth, and the lure of Champions League football is just too much for the domineering centre-back to reject. Should he make the switch to Old Trafford then he will be facing up with Rio Ferdinand, Nemanja Vidic, Jonny Evans, Chris Smalling and Phil Jones for a place in the central defensive places. The sight of the latter may well be enough to make Ranocchia change his mind and stay in the land of Pizza.
United fans will be happy to know that Ranocchia ended the season on the highest rating in the Inter squad with various sources, and also accumulated a higher score than anyone playing in a United shirt bar Robin van Persie.
