First Robin van Persie, now Manchester United are ready to swoop for another Arsenal man
Arsenal fans will have had enough of that pesky northern club Manchester United having one over than them. They used to enjoy battles for the Premier League title in which the likes of Roy Keane and Patrick Viera making the rivalry spicy, however, since those days United have continued winning titles and keeping up the standards while the Gunners slip down the table and start to look like a beaten outfit.
Last summer was the point in which Arsene Wenger’s head was wanted around north London, along with the rest of the board, as a result of the sale of talisman Robin van Persie. The Dutchman hit the ground running at Old Trafford and ended up the most recent season as the Premier League’s top scorer and marched his new side to another league victory.
Now it looks as though the Red Devils will be going back to the Emirates in order to snatch another Gooner, this time their captain Thomas Vermaelen. The Belgian has fallen behind Per Mertesacker and Laurent Koscielny in the pecking order and is said to be available for just £5m.
If someone suggester that Koscielny would force the skipper out of the club about a year ago you would have laughed in their face. Or is it just Wenger clinging onto his French philosophy?
