That was a pretty tough season for Liverpool.
Brendan Rodgers must take huge credit for being able to calm a pretty vicious storm at the beginning of the season and then, towards seasons end, have the team challenging for a top four spot (momentarily, at least).
Liverpool fans could have done without all the drama and controversy that Luis Suarez attracts but they certainly needed his goals. Rodgers, though, understood that he would need some help so he supplanted his main attacking threat with two very astute buys in the January transfer window: Daniel Sturridge and Phillipe Countinho.
Both performed very well indeed in the second half of the season but it was the latter that proved to be one of the bargains of the season. Costing a mere £8m to be shipped over from Inter Milan, Countinho has impressed with his vast array of skills and eye for the spectacular.
The 20-year-old Brazilian has already established himself as a first team regular and Liverpool fans will be hoping that he can carry the form he showed in his first five months in England into the start of next season as Rodgers looks to avoid another disastrous beginning.
It is clear, however, that the young Brazilian is in possession of some very fine tekkers, as evidenced in this video.
