Does West Ham’s £14.5m bid for La Liga star suggest Carroll deal has hit a snag?

Sevilla must have had enough of the Premier League. First of all Manchester City nab the winger that they have nutured into what he is today, and now they are fending off interest from West Ham for their inform striker Alvaro Negredo. The Hammers have supposedly put in a bid of £14.5m the Spain international who has netted on 31 occasions this season but the fee proposed is nowhere near the amount that the La Liga club want, according to their president Jose Maria Del Nido.

He said: “West Ham offered 17m (euros) with more in incentives but we do not value the offer and the player refused. He has four years left on his contract. He is at home here. He has scored a lot of goals and delighted us with his football.”

Perhaps Negredo did a bit of research on Sam Allardyce and had a quiet word with the Sevilla hierarchy about rejecting the offer.

The big money offered may suggest that the £15m permanent move for Andy Carroll is crumbling beneath them, or that they are after the pair in an attempt to replace Carlton Cole’s two league goals.

Fair play to the Irons, the offer really is a statement of intent as they look to build a squad capable of qualifying for Europe next season. I just can’t imagine there would be many willing to swap sunny Seville for east London.
