Jose Mourinho starts to shape Chelsea squad by making £35m for forward

Jose Mourinho has only been Chelsea manager for a couple of days yet he has already had some huge decisions to make. The Portuguese gaffer has already had to decide whether or not David Luiz will be staying at the club as well as his captain, leader and legend John Terry, and with Andre Schurrle on the cusp on completing his move to the Bridge he has apparently made a £35m bid for Zenit St Petersburg forward Hulk.

The big money signing will be a real statement of intent should it come off but you can expect plenty more twists and turns before the start of next season. Jose Mourinho involved with Chinese whispers? Never…

The Blues have plenty of options to play behind the striker in the shapes of Juan Mata, Eden Hazard, Frank Lampard, Victor Moses and Oscar but are short of real quality in the centre-forward berth. Hulk can play anywhere across the front and provides creativity, a willingness to run at players and a real mean streak… you won’t like him when he’s angry, or a joke to that effect.

Mourinho is all about a strong bond between all staff at the club and if Hulk doesn’t fit into that mentality then a move will probably falter, no matter how green he gets.
