When reporters ask football players about their future, they are usually met with muted response about how they are happy at their club, have no intention of leaving and that’s it for another interview. Well, that’s not what Newcastle star Yohan Cabaye has done in reply to asking about the midfielder being linked with a move to Manchester United.
The Toon man has had an incredible campaign yet again at St James’ Park and is adored by the majority of Newcastle supporters, but when you have the talent that the Frenchman does and you are involved in a relegation scrap then something is going to happen.
Cabaye wants to be winning trophies as do all professional footballers, and with David Moyes hunting for his signature the move could come around sooner rather than later. United are desperate to sign a replacement for Paul Scholes before the new season rolls around but they will have to fight for the 27-year-old as Monaco and Paris St Germain are also apparently interest.
Cabaye said of the situation: “Yes, of course. I’ve liked this club for a long time, I like what they do. The boss has left but they have appointed a very good successor and he did some good things with Everton. They are always well played among the big clubs. Yes, for sure, it would be an interesting challenge.”
Toon fans, you can wipe away the tears now.
