Liverpool could lose £12.7m man to Barcelona – statistics

With all eyes on where Luis Suarez will end up this summer, Liverpool fans now have to cope with the rumours their sturdy centre-back Daniel Agger could be leaving Merseyside in favour of Champions League football. The Daily Star have announced that Agger is on the shortlist for La Liga giants Barcelona in what would be a deal worth around £12.7m.

The Denmark international has excelled under Brendan Rodgers as he pursues a slick style of football at Anfield, and seldom can it be said that a club can do it better the Barca which drives the Blaugrana chiefs’ attention towards the Reds defender.

Agger played 35 league games last season and mustered three goals. His 89% pass accuracy supports the claims he is able on the ball and 62% duel success is made up of 72% of his tackles being won, 71% of his take-ons being successful and won 61% of his 188 attempted headers.

The 28-year-old is contracted to Liverpool until 2016 and is considered a key figure in the Reds squad, but when Barcelona flaunt the cash then it will be a very tough decision for the Andfield bosses to take.

Perhaps this is a blessing in disguise for young defender Andre Wisdom who is considered to be a future centre-half. Every cloud, and all that…
