For those of us who have been admiring Scott Parker since his early days in professional football it has been hard to watch the midfielder struggle with injury and then come back looking rusted and dogged.
His knees seems to be deserting him and so does his stamina, and now at 32 it seems like his career is on the verge on a downward spiral. However, with the Mirror reporting that he may be given a life line from fiery Italian Paolo Di Canio as he looks to reshape his Sunderland squad may very well be the break that both Parker and Tottenham need.
The two were on the books at Charlton Athletic together back in 2003 and could be reunited in the coming weeks despite Parker still holding two years on his contract at White Hart Lane. The deal is supposedly around the £4m mark and would free up some space for what is looking like a congested Spurs midriff and would also complete a quad of summer signings already for the Black Cats.
Di Canio has wasted no time in re-shuffling his pack as he has shown with defender Valentin Roberge and midfielders Cabral and Mobido Diakete, and with another seven weeks until the season starts I am sure we can expect to see plenty more.
