Sevilla forward Luis Alberto is due to make an appearance in Liverpool today (Friday) to complete his medical ahead of his £6m transfer, according to the Daily Mail. Alberto has plied his trade for Barcelona B for the past season and impressed immensely. He cooked up 17 assists and 11 of his own goals and was expected to be introduced to the Sevilla first team next season, but due to financial issues the offer made from the Reds is enough for them to strike a deal.
Should the move go ahead then the playmaker will be Brendan Rodgers’ third signing of the season already, which suggests he is keen to have his squad complete as soon as he can. Kolo Toure was the first man through the Anfield doors on a free transfer from Manchester City, but he was quickly followed by Spaniard Iago Aspas who is waiting for his paperwork to confirm his £7.7m move from Celta Vigo.
This summer is crucial for Rodgers’ success at the club and he is said to be in the hunt for at least another four signings, perhaps five if Luis Suarez departs, and is closing in on Shakhtar Donetsk attacking midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Sporting Lisbon defender Tiago Ilori. It is thought that the Reds are also working on a deal for Sunderland shot-stopper Simon Mignolet.
Will Liverpool manager to snatch a place in the top four next year? It is looking more likely by the week.
