Chelsea to beat Manchester United to £9m midfielder, Liverpool ready to sell midfield pair and Premier League club preparing £2m offer for Grant Holt – round up

Jose Mourinho is used to getting the better of Manchester United. However, as he returns to Chelsea to find a new man at the helm of the Red Devils it is yet to be seen who will get their mitts on the Premier League trophy, but according to the Daily Mail the Blues may get an early jab at the title holders before the campaign kicks off.

£9m-rated Vitesse star Marco van Ginkel is a man on everyone’s radar. The midfielder made his debut for the Holland senior side last year and was in fine form in the U21 European Championships just passed, and with interest rife you shouldn’t be surprised should he be appearing in the Premier League next year.

Elsewhere in the topflight Liverpool are going about their business in admirable fashion. They have already snapped up three signings in the shape of Kolo Toure, Iago Aspas and most recently Luis Alberto and the Mirror are reporting that they are ready to start clearing out their deadwood.

The reports suggest that both Jonjo Shelvey and Jay Spearing will be flogged in the coming weeks, the former perhaps to Norwich and the latter to Hull, as Rodgers goes about sculpting a team ready for a top four push.

Last up in our round up is Premier League new-boys Crystal Palace and their reported target Grant Holt, who Norwich supposedly value at around £2m. Ian Holloway is searching for a replacement for the injured Glenn Murray, last season’s Championship top scorer, and with Ricky van Wolfswinkle already arriving at Carrow Road, Holt is likely to see his playing time slashed.
