It is all change at Old Trafford as David Moyes prepares for his first season in charge of the Red Devils after replacing Sir Alex Ferguson. But Moyes is cut from the same cloth as his predecessor, so don’t expect too much to change.
One thing that Moyes will bring is defensive solidity, something that his Everton sides always had. Last season – Manchester United conceded the same number of goals as 7th placed Liverpool and that is simply not good enough for a title winning side.
Robin van Persie was an important player for United last season and although he did score 26 league goals, 19 different scorers notched 60 goals between them and if van Persie were to get injured, United wouldn’t struggle for goals.
The Wayne Rooney situation needs to be solved as soon as possible, with the player seemingly wanting out of United after David Moyes suggested that Rooney would not be a regular up front.
Manchester United sides managed by Sir Alex Ferguson were always able to come back from losing positions and David Moyes’ team will have to do the same this season in order to be successful, but Chelsea and Manchester City may prove too good.
