Although Arsenal have found it tough recruiting any new players over the summer, here are three names that are still a realistic target, in my opinion, for Arsene Wenger and the Gunners.
1) Wayne Rooney
I honestly believe that the former Everton goal-getter is on his way out of Manchester United, and that it’s a two horse race between the Gunners and Chelsea. The wealth of English quality at the Emirates may tempt Rooney to north London, but whether Wenger is willing to bid more than £1 over the asking price is yet to be seen.
Rooney would provide the marquee signing that all the Gooners want and would inject an abundance of goals into his lacking side.
2) Yohan Cabaye
It is now common knowledge that Newcastle’s Cabaye is a target after Arsenal were said to have put in a £12m offer this week. And although many don’t believe he is the signing that they need, his range of passing, creativity and his ability in the shot would offer something that the side don’t currently have.
3) Micah Richards
It has been documented in the past that the defender is an Arsenal fan, so he would surely be tempted if the offer came up. Richards would offer his services and both right-back and centre-back and also inject a winners mentality into the squad.
They will probably sign none of them, though.
