We have seen the good, the bad and the ugly from Emmanuel Adebayor since he arrived in the Premier League back in 2006. His stunning form at Arsenal alongside Thierry Henry, his infamous celebration at Manchester City and his lackadaisical performances for Spurs. But with Roberto Soldado coming into White Hart Lane this summer, have we seen the last of the Togo international in England?
His supposed astronomical wages are something which heightened expectations around north London and he hasn’t delivered. Although he scored 18 goals in 37 for Spurs in his first season, he hit just eight last term, and his nonchalant ways were not appreciated.
As touched upon, Soldado was drafted in this summer after setting La Liga alight with his 24 goals last season for Valencia. He scored on his debut for Tottenham with a brilliant penalty against Crystal Palace, leaving Adebayor sinking into his hands.
Adebayor does not seem to be one who will stay around and fight for his place. He is now third spot in the pecking order behind the aforementioned Spaniard and Jermain Defoe, who has himself been linked away, and – in my opinion – will be shown the door sooner rather than later.
Spurs fans, what are your thoughts on the frontman?
