Gareth Bale And Luis Suarez – Would They Be Missed?

Two footballers of similar skill, yet two completely different personalities. Both linked with moves away from their respective clubs this summer, Gareth Bale and Luis Suarez are both examples of the incredibly high standard of football England’s top flight possesses.  But at the same time, it is impossible to argue that they are both good adverts for the Premier League.

Tottenham winger Bale was the deciding factor in whether Spurs won or drew games on several occasions last season.  The ability to seemingly win a match on his own kept the north London side in the race for fourth place, in which they ultimately lost out to bitter rivals Arsenal.

Reds forward Suarez, meanwhile, has been vilified by the media and turned into some sort of pantomime monster. And quite rightly. Despite having talent that young players across the world could only dream of, he has continued to let himself and his club down in ways so well-documented that it would be quite depressing to repeat them.  This is especially true in the case of Liverpool fans, who have stood by the striker time and time again, only to be constantly snubbed and disrespected.

Bale’s reported transfer to Real Madrid is believed to be coming to fruition.  Although Spurs have great ambition and have battled the Premier League elite over the last few years, the worldwide prestige of the Madrid club is so great that no man could realistically be expected to turn them down.  Since finally breaking into the team and establishing himself, the Welshman has been outstanding at White Hart Lane, where he will certainly be missed should he move on.

Whilst the same was initially true of Suarez, his actions have caused many of the Anfield faithful to lose patience with him, having awarded him second chance after second chance.  There now seems a possibility that the Uruguayan will still be at the Merseyside club at the end of the transfer window, which would leave us with an interesting five months until January.
