Daniel Levy has been a busy man this summer. With the Gareth Bale saga coming to an end, a look at the Tottenham squad is now looking incredible. Spurs have captured Brazilian midfielder Paulinho, Frenchman Etienne Capoue, Spanish goal-gobbler Roberto Soldado, and tricky winger Nacer Chadli, who holds Belgian nationality. But with the Daily Mail reporting that a deal with Roma star Erik Lamela and whispers of Ajax playmaker Christian Eriksen coming into the club, let’s take a look at what the duo will offer the north London club.
Last season Lamela strutted his stuff in a Roma shirt, and did a fine job. He was one of the most exciting players in the Italian topflight, scoring 15 goals and creating 56 chances for his colleagues. His left foot is an incredible weapon, allowing him to thread balls through defences and striking from distance.
He hit the target with 58% of his efforts, won 48% of his duels and even completed 34 defensive duties in his 33 Serie A games.
Switching our attention to Danish talent Eriksen, who has come under some scrutiny for drifting in and out of games, this season has already started well for the midfielder. He has scored twice in Ajax’s first four games and created 12 chances – including three assists.
His shot accuracy currently stands at 60%, his pass accuracy 86%, and he has averaged three defensive actions per game.
It’s an exciting time to be a Spurs fan, and I have a feeling that Andre Villas-Boas is about to get the credit that he has deserved for a long time.
