With a new manager comes new faces, but it also spells the end of certain players at certain clubs. The transfer window is now shut for the Premier League, but here are three players whose careers look bleak at the Red Devils and why they could be forced to look for a new home sooner rather than later.
1) Alex Buttner
The Dutch defender has played just five league games for the reigning champions and could be on his way out on a loan deal soon. David Moyes seems adamant that a left-back is needed and with Patrice Evra and Fabio Da Silva also occupying that position, Buttner could be better off heading off on loan.
2) Anderson
It’s been a long time since Anderson was really on the scene at United and people are beginning to wonder why he is still at the club. After all the troubles the Reds had in their midfield last season the Brazilian could still only muster one full game last term and has so far made one sub appearance this. Could we finally see the end of Anderson?
3) Chris Smalling
If it isn’t injury, it’s lack of playing time keeping the lanky defender out of the United team. With Rio Ferdinand in top form, and Nemanja Vidic, Jonny Evans and Phil Jones all looking to be number one choice at centre-back, it’s hard to see where the former Fulham man fits in. Perhaps a move elsewhere would rekindle his career.
